The Cambridge ICELT (In-Service Certificate in English Language Teaching) is for speakers of any language who already teach English to primary, secondary or adult students. The ICELT involves teaching, observation and written assignments, and is divided into two Modules, ‘Language for Teachers’ and ‘Teaching and Methodology’, which can be taken separately or in combination. On the course, you will discover a wide range of teaching ideas and techniques, develop your teaching skills and understanding of language teaching methodology, and improve your own language for the classroom. The ICELT is also for teachers who want to gain a formal international qualification, as it is awarded by Cambridge ESOL, part of the University of Cambridge.
ITTC offers courses in ICELT Module 1 and/or Module 2 to groups both here in the UK and overseas. Your school or organisation can contact us for information on dates and fees.
You may also receive Erasmus+ funding for the course through your school or organisation.

ICELT: The right course for you?
If you are an English teacher of primary, secondary or adult students, the ITTC ICELT course could be perfect for you. It is designed for teachers who want to develop their own English, their teaching skills, techniques and ideas, and their understanding of methodology. The ICELT is divided into two modules, ‘Language for Teachers’ and ‘Teaching and Methodology’, which can be taken separately or in combination. It is very practical, with input sessions, teaching practice and assignments all focusing on language and learning. The course is for speakers of any language but to participate fully your level of English must be Upper Intermediate (B2 CEFR) or higher.
The ICELT is awarded by Cambridge and both ICELT Modules 1 & 2 are graded Not to Standard, Pass, Merit and Distinction. To make sure we think you will be successful, there is a thorough interview procedure. You will be asked to complete a task with questions to help us see your language level, language awareness and teaching ideas. We do this to make sure we firmly believe it is the right course for you!
